The Campaign
We campaign for:
- a ban on nightflights at Heathrow
- an extension of runway and flight path alternation
- a cap on the number of flights at Heathrow
- adoption of the noise levels recommended by the World Health Organisation
- a tax on transfer passengers using Heathrow
- clear information on flight paths
We are opposed to a third runway at Heathrow and more planes on the existing runways through the end of runway alternation
But we do not want to move Heathrow's problems elsewhere. That is why we have joined AirportWatch, the umbrella body that includes the protest groups around all the UK airports, as well as leading environmental organiations. AirportWatch takes the view that, if aviation paid its fair share of tax, there would be no need for any more runways over the next 30 years. AirportWatch unites all campaign groups across the UK. We all oppose the Government's aggressive go-for-growth policy.
HACAN ClearSkies has also developed links with campaign groups across Europe. We are members of UECNA, the umbrella body for protest groups around Europe's airports.
We feel these wider links are essential if we are to persuade governments to take control of the runaway juggernaut that is the aviation industry. Until that happens local protest groups will face a continuous uphill struggle.
