{"id":3256,"date":"2015-07-28T10:36:18","date_gmt":"2015-07-28T10:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hacan.org.uk\/?p=3256"},"modified":"2015-07-28T10:36:18","modified_gmt":"2015-07-28T10:36:18","slug":"only-13-2-of-britons-back-a-third-runway-at-heathrow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hacan.org.uk\/?p=3256","title":{"rendered":"Only 13.2% of Britons Back a Third Runway at Heathrow"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Press Release<\/h1>\n<h1>28\/7\/15 <em>for immediate use<\/em><\/h1>\n<h1><strong>Only 13.2% of Britons Back a Third Runway at Heathrow<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>A Mori poll released yesterday shows that only 13% of people in the UK back a third runway at Heathrow.\u00a0 Most people, 60%, want to see more airport capacity in the country but few of them want it at Heathrow.\u00a0 A third of people are against any expansion at all.<\/p>\n<p>Of those who favour expansion, 30% want to see a new airport, 24% support Gatwick and 22% Heathrow.\u00a0 But, when those who oppose all expansion are taken into account, support for a third runway at Heathrow falls to a mere 13%.<\/p>\n<p>John Stewart, chair of HACAN, which opposes a third runway, said, \u201cThe politicians who back Heathrow expansion are simply out of tune with public opinion.
