RMT Union comes out against Heathrow expansion and in favour of high-speed rail. An assessment of the potential of rail to cut air travel (with particular reference to Heathrow). With this report RMT becomes the first union to look for an environmentally acceptable alternative to expansion at Heathrow. The report finds that a good rail service can provide a viable alternative that is not just more environmentally-friendly but also contributes much more to the UK economy and job creation.
