HACAN sets a Poser for Noise Action Week

HACAN, the campaign against aircraft noise, which represents residents under the Heathrow flight paths, has set a challenge for Noise Action Week, which runs from 23rd to 27th May.

It is asking people 5 questions about aircraft noise over London (1).

  • Hounslow and Richmond are the most overflown boroughs in London, but which borough is in third place?

  • How many people in London are disturbed by aircraft noise?

  • How many local people from Newham does City Airport employ?

  • To which sporting event to be held in August in London would it be advisable to bring ear-plugs?

  • Name at least one ‘oasis’ in London; an area that is typically plane-free?

HACAN Chair John Stewart said: “The questions are a bit of fun. And we are definitely offering no air miles for correct answers! But it all does show just how many planes there are flying over London. It is a city living under a sky of sound. The most pressing need is to give some relief to the residents in those parts of east and south London that are constantly overflown. They are living in noise ghettos.”
